New Schedule: On August 30 and September 6, we will have one outdoor service (weather permitting) at 6pm. We will continue with the pre-recorded service for those two Sundays. On September 13, we will return to one service at 9:15am in the church and maintain the 6pm outdoor service. The 9:15am service will be recorded and posted online. We are looking at bringing communion back in the near future and will keep you informed!
Prayers for our Nation: Paul calls us to persevere in prayer and we are desperately in need of perseverance right now! We currently have compline available on Facebook live every night at 9pm. However, people can pray anywhere and everywhere. We don’t need a computer to do it. A St. John’s parishioner asked that we suggest praying for our nation every day at noon. You can do this anywhere with any words that you choose. The idea is that we know somewhere, other members of St. John’s are praying for our country. While you can pray in any way that you would like, the Book of Common Prayer is a treasure trove of prayers. Therefore, we will be providing a different one every week. Here is this week’s: Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Update of our Confederate Memorial: The task force has concluded their work and is currently formulating a final report for the vestry. Thank you to those who served on the task force. We are very grateful for your time and energy.
