The Vestry
The elected lay leadership of St. John’s
What the Vestry Does
In The Episcopal Church, each parish is governed by a vestry: lay members elected by the congregation to serve alongside the Rector. The Vestry looks after the parish’s finances, buildings and property, and helps set the direction of its life and ministry.
The Vestry is led by two Wardens. The Senior Warden works most closely with the Rector on the life of the parish, and the Junior Warden traditionally looks after the buildings and grounds. The Registrar keeps the Vestry’s minutes and records.
Members of the Vestry
Members serve staggered three-year terms, so one class completes its service each year.
