Rejoice, Pray, Ask, Tell, and Seek were themes explored under the lighted sky of the Grand Canyon in Arizona where we had an adventure every day. Each day several of our teenagers performed skits to help interpret the Bible theme for the day. The children, with a total of over 50 in attendance for the week, learned more about these themes in music, arts and crafts, science, storytelling, and games. We had a total of over 50 adults and teenagers who taught, guided, and assisted in many other various ways to make this another successful VBS. A huge thank you, thank you to all these volunteers! A special thank you to Ann Edgar and the decorating team who created a magical Grand Canyon setting.
The VBS Mission Project was Tyler Elementary School, a Title I school that creates a safe environment for children to grow and learn in Hampton. We have raised approximately $200 for this cause. We also collected generous numbers of crayon boxes, tissue boxes, packages of index cards, hand sanitizer, and composition notebooks which will be used at Tyler for the 2009–2010 school year. Thank you to all the parishioners and VBS participants who gave so bigheartedly.
All in all we can say that this week of July 20th–24th was a huge success at St. John’s! Thank you to all who made it possible!
