Our Mission
Music as a Gift & a Discipline
The St. John’s Academy of Music began in the fall of 2018 as a partnership with the Academy of Music of Virginia based in Norfolk. The mission of both organizations is to offer music and drama enrichment in the lives of our community through private music instruction, group ensemble experiences and drama opportunities. These programs are staffed by selected professional musicians known for their expertise in teaching and performing, and registration to these programs is open to all residents regardless of the ability to pay.
Rooted in the parish’s rich musical heritage, the Academy provides not only technical training but formation in beauty, patience, and the deep satisfaction of offering one’s gifts in service to something greater than oneself.
Private Lessons
Individual instruction in piano, guitar, voice and violin, for every age and level.
How to Register
All ages
Lessons are arranged between student and teacher and taught in the upstairs studios of the Hoffman House, beside the church at 120 W. Queens Way.
