A Final Note on the Downtown Neighborhood Lunch

Another year, another summer, another Lunch Program completed. Good work, good food, good fellowship, good feeling, good reason to do what we do.

We fed over 1600 meals to our guests over 15 weeks this summer and we sent out about 8 meals each week to our shut-ins. The food is tasty, nourishing, and warming. For some of our guests it is the only meal they receive for as much as 3 days. For others, it just helps them stretch their own money a little further. For some it is an opportunity to get together with friends or make some new friends. For others it’s an opportunity to learn how others live and what some must cope with on a daily basis, and learn about the individuals we feed. We, at St. John’s, are so blessed. For those who work the summer kitchen, our lives are so enriched by the experience.

To all who worked, again, my thanks to you for your interest, effort, good humor, labor, and dedication. It goes without saying that I would not and could not do any of this without you all. Thank you, thank you.
