Renovation Committee Report: Brick Restoration and Cemetery Improvements (January 2009)

The herringbone brick walkway through the churchyard

The purpose of this report is to keep the parishioners up to date on the work of the Renovation Committee. Committee members are: John Chiasson, George Cornwell, Nelson Durden, Bill Hudgins, Bettyrene Pope, Carrie and Ron Quinn, Jim Shoemaker, The Rev. Donna-Mae Siderius and Jim Tormey.

The Renovation Committee met on January 28, 2009 with nine members present and one visitor. David Bishop shared information about the cemetery and the wonderful gift from Cynthia Andrews that enabled a new driveway and paved walkway to be installed. Discussion followed concerning the second and third church sites and the need for maintenance.

The exterior painting of the Parish House has been completed. The brick restoration to the church walls and the cemetery walls is nearing completion and was done with expert workmanship. Take a look and see how visible or invisible the repairs are.

Proposals are being sought for design documents and mechanical assessments for the roof work on the church. Proposals are also being secured for bids for As-Built drawings and Code Analysis. These will provide drawings of the church for future use and today’s building codes. Groups within the church will be asked to provide feedback for their needs and wish lists concerning the church renovation.
