The Tower Renovation Is Complete

A group gathered at the June 2014 reception

After five plus years, “The strife is o’er” saith Samantha! The renovation of the church tower, electrical room addition, upgrades to electrical systems, new heating and air conditioning is complete. The people involved in the Renovation were recognized at the reception following the 9:30 a.m. church service on June 22nd.

The Renovation Committee was made up of Bettyrene Pope, Chairman, Bill Brown, John Chiasson, George Cornwell, Nelson Durden, Billie Einselen, Jay Hogg, Carrie & Ron Quinn, Jim Shoemaker, and Jim Tormey. Supplying financing for this project were the Endowment Board, Mary Williams Trust, Peninsula Community Foundation, and Saunders, Holt, Mars Investment Group – Wells Fargo, and the borrowing of money through Old Point National Bank. Virtexco was in charge of seeing the project through to completion with the supervision of Q Design: Don Adams, president, Cindy Davis, project manager, and Tommy Boyd, on site project supervisor. Some things are still being completed.

A hidden window, uncovered during renovation, has now been refurbished.
