St. John’s Church is excited and delighted to announce that the Reverend Samantha Vincent-Alexander has accepted our call to serve as the church’s 47th rector.
Samantha received her B.A. from Gettysburg College, a Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Diploma in Anglican Studies from Virginia Theological Seminary. Before attending seminary, Samantha spent several years working for a non-profit business dedicated to community building. She is married to Conor, the rector of St. Francis in Virginia Beach.
Samantha was ordained in 2005 and accepted her first call to Church of the Ascension where she has now served for eight years. Samantha has served Ascension in a variety of capacities over that time. Her primary focus in the beginning was preaching, teaching and working with youth and young adults. Since then she has expanded her horizons and had the opportunity to take part in virtually every ministry of the church.
Samantha’s strong sense of spirituality, her deep relationship with Christ, combined with her enthusiasm and experience, were qualities that we sought in a rector. We believe Samantha will bring a fresh approach and the vitality which we seek in a new rector. God has truly blessed us in so many ways, and we are eager for Samantha to begin her ministry at St. John’s. She will join us on October 9, 2013. Her first Sunday celebrating the Eucharist will be October 13th.
