Kickoff Sunday 2026: Welcome Back

The choir, in blue robes, singing at the front of the church

Sunday, September 13, was Kickoff Sunday, the start of a new program year at St. John’s.

The choir is back

After a summer of special music, the choir is back, singing from their new, temporary place in the church.

Deborah Carr, our Music Director, was joined for Kickoff Sunday by Christine Gundayao on violin and Jordan Cady on guitar, both teachers with the Academy of Music.

Commissioned for the year ahead

We commissioned our Sunday School teachers, our substitute teachers and the choir, and asked God’s blessing on the work they will share with us this year.

Sunday School is back

Sunday School for children started back this week. At the 9 a.m. service, the Rev. Lisa Erdeljon, our Rector, gave a children’s sermon, and afterward several children raced ahead of their parents to get to class.

Coffee hour

After the second service, Inreach provided a fantastic coffee hour. Thank you to everyone who made it happen.

Thank you to our teachers, substitutes and singers, and welcome back, everyone. If you would like to sing with the choir or help with Sunday School, get in touch.
