The Renovation Committee and Vestry held a joint meeting in December to discuss the progress of the renovation work. More demolition was done on the second floor of the sacristy, tearing out the clergy vesting rooms down to the bare walls. It was found that another access could be made for the attic in that room, so Virtexco was asked to support and enlarge that opening for firefighter accessibility. The Handicapped bathroom in the Parish House has been completed. A comment that was told about the bathroom: “I saw the bathroom on Thursday morning. It is wonderful! It is spacious, private, and full of thoughtful design for the challenged. Mary Williams is proud.” You can’t get better compliments than that!
The doors to the Parish House are in the process of being built so when they are ready, they will be installed. Q Design has received signed Dominion VA Power documents from the REMSA owner allowing overlay of Dominion’s easement on existing utility easement, thus allowing electrical power conduit to run from the transformer in the west parking lot to the proposed north addition. They monitored the fall/winter work completed by Virtexco, with all complete except Parish House doors/security/west canopy roof. Q Design continued coordination with engineers and work on A/E drawings and specifications for the 2013 work.
