A Night’s Welcome, 2019

St. John’s once again hosted the event from February 9–16. With a tremendous amount of help from our own parishioners and friends, we welcomed men, women, and children who currently find themselves homeless. Yes, we also had a family – father, mother and four children – for most of the week. Each night brought new challenges, and the number of guests differed from forty-seven to as many as sixty-eight. The volunteers who served the people, whether it was being a greeter, preparing and serving breakfasts and dinners, or staying overnight, were phenomenal.

I received compliments from not only the guests but from the HELP employees about how well our program was organized and run according to the prescribed schedules. One guest told me she had had trouble sleeping at other churches, but at St. John’s she felt at peace and rested well. It’s over for another year. Thank you again to ALL who helped!
