Meetings are held every two weeks. The focus currently is to design and implement a plan with a specific timeline.
A cellar and attic crawl for the church and a cursory tour of the Parish House took place on April 5th. Five members of the committee along with Camille Bowman, Virginia Historic Resources Officer, donned “bunny crawling suits” and prowled around on dirt floors, peered into spidery places and climbed to the church attic and roof. The goal was to inspect the nooks and crannies of St. John’s Church. That being done, it concurred with the Structures Group analysis prepared several years ago.
Lists of priority projects that could be achieved from now until December 2009 that would not disrupt the services held in the church are being created. 2010 is the 400th Anniversary year and major renovation will be held off until 2011. Carrie and Ron Quinn are co-chairing the committee and Bettyrene Pope is recorder.
