Special Vestry Meeting, December 7, 2014

Sunday, December 7, 2014

A Special meeting the vestry of St. John’s Church Elizabeth City Parish, Hampton was called to order at noon on the 7th of December, 2014, for the purpose of providing health insurance for Samantha, Charlie Edmonson sent the following e-mail to the vestry on December 1, 2014

Samantha’s agreement stipulates that we provide health insurance through the diocese or through a comparable plan. As we entered the enrollment period, we realized that at the cost of the diocesan plan was prohibitive. I suggested that put Samantha contact the TowneBank benefit company, TFA Benefits, and we were able to obtain a less expensive policy. This new policy contains a deductible, but even with that, delivers a cost savings to St. John’s while providing the level of coverage we want to provide for Samantha. Because we are selecting another plan, I’d like to have your approval with an email vote of”Yes”. Below are the numbers: Diocesan plan-$786 per month, -$9432 per year/ no deductible, pay small amount per visit Alternate Plan-$338 per month-$4062 per year/$750 or $1,000 deductible (there are 2 plans that are very similar) with a max annual out of pocket cap of $4500, pay small amount per visit. Probably some of the $750/$1000 would be spent, but it is unlikely that the entire $4500 would be spent. Thus, our expected cost per year could be approximately $4812 and a total max of $8562, $850 less than the other plan. Thank you for your review and again, we are providing a very good health plan for Samantha (which we would want to regardless) with what will be a savings to St. John’s. Charlie

This e-mail vote passed.

The vestry met because of complications following this vote. A motion was made, seconded, and passed that we go with the diocesan plan for Health insurance coverage for Samantha Vincent-Alexander for the year 2015.
