A special meeting of the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City Parish, was called to order by the Reverend Donna-Mae Siderius at 6:30 pm. Present were Bob Harper, Senior Warden, Bettyrene Pope, Junior Warden, Jay Hogg, Dave Foster, Sukey Stephens, Erin Pfeil, John Chiasson, Bill Brown, Brian McMahon, Connie Heath, Rachel Pankin, The Reverend Anna Noon and The Reverend Bob Gay. John Siderius, Music Director, was also present. Bill Rhode, Peggy Hayes and Mark Stephens were absent.
Donna-Mae opened the meeting with a prayer of general thanksgiving.
The vestry approved giving John Siderius seat and voice at the meeting.
Donna-Mae announced that she and John, after prayerful consideration, would be leaving full-time ministry in order to devote time to family. Their retirement is effective August 31 with the last Sunday at St. John’s on 31 July.
The Reverend Canon Michael Spear-Jones, Diocesan Transition Minister, will be at the regular May vestry meeting to discuss the process for the next steps.
A letter to the parish will be mailed on May 4.
