A special meeting of the vestry of St. John’s Church, Elizabeth City Parish, Hampton, VA was held on Monday, May 3, 1999 in the parish house. Bill Mace, Senior Warden opened the meeting and the registrar, Nelson Durden was present.
Those present were: Billie Einselen, Leo Vaisvil, Connie Heath, Frank Edgar, Sr., Dan Clark, Richard Hayes, Lew Vermillion, Keith Hatch, Rick Harman, Marian Blount, Jane Heiby, Vestal Lewis, Letia Drewry, and Nancy Adams.
Absent was Mac McKinney.
Devotions: Bill Mace.
Lynda Cascioli conducted Ten Minutes of Training on “Change”.
CALL TO ORDER
Letia Drewry was elected Senior Warden, Lew Vermillion, Junior Warden, Nancy Adams, Registrar, and Warren Spratley, Treasurer. It was recommended that Connie Heath record highlights of the vestry meetings for the Epistle.
The vestry retreat at the Well in Smithfield will be held May 21 at 5:00 pm and May 22, ending approximately 4:00 pm. Letia needs a firm commitment by next week’s vestry meeting. Ted Johnson will be the facilitator and will continue working on team building. New vestry members should complete the Myers Briggs and Conflict Resolution surveys by May 10. Any other vestry members can retake the surveys. These are needed to evaluate how the vestry works together.
Vestry Member Self Evaluations need to be completed and returned to Letia Drewry.
The booklet “Time of Transition” will be given to new vestry members.
It was moved and seconded to have the regular vestry meeting May 11 at 7:00 pm. The motion passed. The Executive Committee will meet May 4.
