The Vestry of St. John’s Church, Elizabeth City Parish, was called to order on February 28, 2026, at 2:15 p.m. by Rev. Lisa Erdeljon. Present were Bettyrene Pope – Junior Warden, Wendy Cummings, Bob Harper, Scott Curtis, Anne Rutherford, Jon Wallner, Dory Holder, Rev Lisa Erdeljon, and Linda Curtis – Treasurer. Andrew Mackey and Ellen Griffith – Registrar was absent.

The meeting opened at 2:15 p.m. with a prayer.

Ascertainment of Quorum: A quorum was present.

Election of Officers: A motion was made by Bob Harper to appoint Scott Curtis as Senior Warden. Seconded by Wendy Cummings. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Scott Curtis to appoint Bettyrene Pope as Junior Warden. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Anne Rutherford to appoint Ellen Griffith as Registrar. Seconded by Wendy Cummings. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Bettyrene Pope to appoint Linda Curtis as Treasurer. Seconded by Scott Curtis. The motion was approved unanimously.

Approval of Agenda: A motion was made by Anne Rutherford to approve the agenda as written. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Bob Harper to approve the minutes of the January 20 meeting as amended. Seconded by Scott Curtis. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Scott Curtis to approve the minutes of the February 15, Annual Meeting as amended. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

Treasurer’s Report, Linda Curtis

2025 Year End: Income shows a gift from the Peninsula Community Foundation. Major expenses were the fire sprinkler testing. Instrumentalists were paid for 2 months. The 4th quarter Diocesan pledge was paid in January and accrued to December. Transferred of balances to funds for Outreach and Parish Discretionary fund. Total transferred to reserve was $32,177.94

A motion was made by Anne Rutherford to approve the 2025 End of Year Financial Report. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

January 2026: Income was definitely affected by the weather. The counters have not yet counted, so it will be posted in February.

Electric and Gas were way over due to the weather. An addition error was in the budget, so expenses are off by $20 from income, fixed in February.

The memorial fund paid for Christmas wreaths. Night’s Welcome had supplies and food expenses.

A motion was made by Scott Curtis to approve the January Treasurer’s Report. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Anne Rutherford to add the below vendors to the list of approved ACH payments. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

Senior Warden’s Report, Scott Curtis

Nothing to report.

Junior Warden’s Report, Bettyrene Pope

Updated security system in the church. Bettyrene will get with David Bishop to arrange mulch for the playground for this year.

Rector’s Report, Rev. Lisa Erdeljon

Lisa thanked everyone for attending the Friday night at her house. Worship & Liturgy won’t meet in May because they are that far ahead in planning. Palm Sunday will have an evening music service. Easter will have 2 services. The 1st service will be Easter oriented. 2nd service will be high holy Eucharist with full mass.

Lisa will be out March 1 after the service through March 9 for continuing education. The office will be closed, and Derek Pringle will preach on March 9.

A motion was made by Lisa Erdeljon to move into a closed session at 3:00. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Scott Curtis to end the closed session at 3:31. Seconded by Bob Harper. The motion was approved unanimously.

A motion was made by Scott Curtis to adjourn the meeting at 3:32. Seconded by Anne Rutherford. The motion was approved unanimously.
