The vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City Parish, was called to order on December 17, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. Present were: Senior Warden Bob Harper, Junior Warden Bettyrene Pope, Pat Dennehey, Charlie Edmonson, Stephen Rous, Ruth Simmons, Denine Miller, Greg Brauer, Emily Klotz, Treasurer Linda Curtis, The Reverend Samantha Vincent-Alexander, and The Reverend Mark Riley. Absent, excused: Youth Representative Darius Rowe.
Treasurer’s Report, Linda Curtis Linda presented the November report. Notable items include: $10,000 moved from Hoffman House to revenue; expenses were up due to water leak; the diocesan pledge was paid; non-pledge offering was up; and she believed we will have a surplus at the end of December.
Linda then presented the 2020 budget. Total projected income and expenses for 2020: $538,955. Motion by Charlie Edmonson, seconded by Bettyrene Pope: The vestry accepts the tentative budget for 2020. Motion approved unanimously.
Lastly, Linda recommended that St. John’s move to a fiscal year budget, rather than a calendar year budget.
The vestry concluded the meeting with dinner and conversation, and adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
