Vestry Meeting, January 26, 2014

Charles Edmonson, senior warden, called the vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City Parish to order after the annual meeting on January 26, 2014. Present were Dan Clark, junior warden, Linda Curtis, treasurer, Kay Olson, registrar, Brian McMahon, Carrie Quinn, Bill Brown, Sylvia Edgar, George Cornwell, Vestal Lewis, Kevin Eley new member Doug Miller and youth representative Thomas Templeman. Clergy Present The Reverend Samantha Vincent-Alexander.

Sylvia Edgar opened the meeting with prayer.

December 2013 minutes were not available for reading or approval.

Clergy report: Samantha reported on the installation/new ministry service to take place on February 12, 2014. She would welcome input from vestry and congregation e.g. traditional hymns, readings, etc. Samantha has reinstated Coffee hour after the 10:30 service. St. John’s will be partnering with Emmanuel, Hampton, during Lent for a simple supper and lesson “Growing closer with God”.

Senior Warden’s Report: Diosova [sic] Council is February 7 and 8, delegates are Sylvia Edgar, Sandy Smith, Charlie Edmonson and Kay Olson. Samantha Vincent-Alexander will be attending as Clergy delegate.

Carrie Quinn made a motion seconded by Dan Clark that we keep the Parish Profile as modified by Brian McMahon. The motion passed.

Carrie Quinn made a motion to approve the Charitable Trust Board members and to select Scott Curtis to the Charitable Trust Board. Motion was seconded and the motion passed.

Vestal Lewis made a motion seconded by Linda Curtis to select Whiting Chisman III and Ruth Simmons as directors of the Endowment Board.

The annual meeting held today went very well according to all Vestry members.

The planning of a vestry retreat will be planned for the coming year.

George Cornwell thanked Charlie Edmonson for all he has done as Senior Warden in the past year.

Meeting was closed with prayer by Sylvia Edgar.
