Special Vestry Meeting, October 27, 2003

Monday, October 27, 2003

A special meeting of the vestry of St John’s Church, Elizabeth City Parish, Hampton, Virginia was held at the parish house on October 27, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. The Reverend Donna Mae Siderius, Rector presided. She welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with a prayer.

Vestry members present were William Andrews, Greg Brauer, Linda Curtis, Frank Edgar, Sr.- Senior Warden, Connie Heath – Treasurer, Vestal Lewis, Denine Miller, Bettyrene Pope- Registrar, Jim Shoemaker, Sandy Smith, and Bill Terrill- Junior Warden.

Absent were Peggy Hayes, Bill Kirkland, and Elizabeth Phillips.

Also present was Bill Boyer, Jr.

A passage was read and discussed from Luke 12:22-34.

After much prior discussion, Jim Shoemaker moved that the vestry use up to $20,000 of the money in the Hoffman House account, if needed between now and December 31st to pay bills. It was suggested that we seek concurrence to do this from the Endowment Board. The Treasurer can draw money to pay bills and the money is to be repaid by Dec. 31st. The motion was seconded and the vote taken. The motion passed.

Action taken: The vestry has determined that the Treasurer may draw up to $20,000 of money in the Hoffman House account, if needed between now and December 31st to pay bills. Concurrence to do this will be sought from the Endowment Board. The money is to be repaid by Dec. 31st.

The meeting was closed with a prayer.
