Our ushers arrive early to make sure everything is in its proper place. They give out bulletins to those who are entering, and a prayer card — a small card with one name on it, so that instead of reading through all the names of those we are praying for, each person prays for one name throughout the service.
Ushers also pass and collect the offering plate during the offertory and guide people during communion. If you are new and are not sure what to do, an usher can help you. At the conclusion of the service they look through the church to make sure no one has forgotten anything. There are three or four ushers on every team, each with a captain who can help any new ushers.
