Charlie Edmonson called the special meeting of the Vestry of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City Parish, to order at 6:40 p.m. Present were Charlie Edmonson-Senior Warden, Connie Heath-Treasurer, Bill Brown, Sylvia Edgar, Kay Olson, Carrie Quinn, and Sandy Smith. At the request of the Senior Warden, the Reverend Charles Johnson, consultant to the Search Committee was also present. Absent were John Chiasson- Junior Warden, Ian Edgar-Youth Representative, Dave Foster, Bob Harper, Brian McMahon-Registrar, and Mark Stephens. Clergy were not present per the Vestry’s request. A quorum was present. Sandy Smith was appointed Registrar for the meeting.
Charlie Edmonson offered an opening prayer.
The purpose of the meeting was to review, discuss, and vote on the proposed compensation package for a new rector as drafted by the Clergy Compensation Sub-Committee of the Vestry, which consisted of Charlie Edmonson, Sylvia Edgar, Bob Harper, Carrie Quinn, and Sandy Smith, with consultation provided during one of the two meetings held by Rev. Johnson. Charlie Edmonson thanked the members of the Compensation sub-committee and Rev. Johnson for their hard work and thoughtful approach.
The Vestry moved into Executive Session at 6:45 p.m.
The Vestry moved out of Executive Session at 7:10 p.m.
Bill Brown made a motion to approve the compensation proposal as presented, and payment of moving expenses, and to provide this information to the Search Committee. The motion was seconded by Kay Olson. The motion passed by acclimation.
Rev. Johnson closed the meeting with prayer.
Charlie Edmonson adjourned the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
