- The Vestry met on May 8 with eleven Vestry members present and the Reverend Skip Hutton. The Very Reverend Donna-Mae Siderius presided.
- The checking account balance as of May 8 was $19,475.78.
- April income was $36,070.29 and expenses were $42,772.22. With 33% of the year complete, total income and expenses are on target, but pledge income is slightly less at 29.85%.
- Vestry voted to deposit an undesignated bequest in the amount of $13,010.29 from the estate of Lynda Cascioli into the Memorial Fund.
- Donations for Easter memorials were received in the amount of $985.00. Cost of Easter decorations was $686.90.
- Parish Improvement fund received $400 in donations. $433.36 was expended to replace electrical boxes.
- Bettyrene Pope, Senior Warden attended the Anti-Racism training hosted by St. John’s and the City of Hampton’s Faith and Diversity Event at Mill Point Park.
- John Chiasson, Junior Warden has been busy taking care of routine repairs, with help from Jack Pope. Donna-Mae is looking to reinstate the Buildings and Grounds Committee, which would bring recommendations to the Vestry.
- The emergency care system implemented by Skip and Jane Price during Donna-Mae’s absence worked very well.
- Donna-Mae and Harper Lewis had a rewarding week at CREDO. Thanks to all the volunteers who stepped up during their absence.
- Due to unanticipated increased costs, the Journey to Adulthood (J2A) youth are about $1,400 short of what they need for their pilgrimage to Belize. The youth plan to have a bake sale and “rent” themselves out to parishioners to help raise money. The pilgrimage begins on June 16.
- May 20 is Youth Sunday. Our youth will be participating as lectors, ushers, and participating in the prayers of the people. The sermon will be preached by five seniors.
- Vestry voted to explore retaining a consultant to analyze opportunities for youth involvement, including Christian Education, EYC, acolytes, and music. A sub-committee of the Vestry was formed to discuss this initiative.
- To better identify the availability of our library, located on the stage, the Vestry decided a sign should be installed on the door to the stage and the door should remain unlocked.
- Vestry thanks Greg Brauer, David Foster, Hansi Haufler, and Ann Ward for their help in various areas this past month.
- Vestry Tacky Light was passed from Bettyrene Pope to Charlie Edmonson. The Mission Tacky Light was passed from Sandy Smith to Whit McKinney. These members will pray for the Vestry and for Mission until the next Vestry meeting on June 12.
