A special meeting of the vestry of St. John’s Church, Elizabeth City Parish, Hampton, Virginia was held at the parish house on May 8th, 2002.
Vestry members present were Marian Blount; Nelson T. Durden, Registrar; Billie Einselen, Senior Warden; Bob Harper; Connie Heath, Treasurer; Bill Mace; Bettyrene Pope; Mary Ellen Sawyer; Eric Stewart; Bill Terrill, Junior Warden; and Richard Hayes.
Newly elected vestry members present were Frank A. Edgar, William H. Kirkland, James H. Shoemaker, Lewin E. Vermillion and Elizabeth Phillips.
Guests: B.J. Taylor, Consultant and Bishop David C. Bane.
Billie Einselen, Senior Warden, presiding.
Devotion: Bishop Bane.
Bishop Bane asked about having a special congregational meeting on May 14th, 2002; and he also said that the newly elected vestry members are now the official vestry members.
There was a lengthy discussion about the circumstances that lead up to the resignation of Keith Adams.
Bishop Bane and B.J. Taylor excused themselves from the meeting.
The election of the vestry officers was held and the following were elected.
Bob Harper, Senior Warden Lewin Vermillion, Junior Warden Bettyrene Pope, Registrar Connie Heath, Treasurer
There was further discussion about the letter of resignation from Keith Adams.
