A special meeting of the vestry of St. John’s Church, Elizabeth City Parish, Hampton, VA was held at 2:00 PM on June 2, 2001 at the parish house.
Those present were Frank Edgar, Sr., Marian Blount, Dan Clark, Bill Mace, Eric Stewart, Linda Lashley, Billie Einselen, Bob Harper, Richard Hayes, Connie Heath, Vestal Lewis, Bettyrene Pope, Mary Ellen Sawyer, Nelson T. Durden, William Terrill, Leo Vaisvil, and Lew Vermillion. Absent: Keith Hatch, Hansi Haufler.
Guests: The Rev. Keith Adams and his wife, Lori Adams Presiding: Frank Edgar, Senior Warden
The purpose of the meeting was to meet with Keith Adams and his wife because Keith Adams is the candidate for Rector recommended by the Search Committee.
A list of written prepared questions was asked Keith Adams and his wife. Keith Adams then asked the vestry several questions. After the question and answer period Keith Adams and his wife Lori Adams were excused, and the vestry had a discussion about the candidacy of Keith Adams as Rector of St. John’s Church.
A motion was made and seconded that St. John’s Episcopal Church, Elizabeth City Parish, Hampton, VA issue a call to the Rev. Keith Adams to be Rector of St. John’s Church subject to the approval of The Rt. Rev. David C. Bane, Jr., Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia, and subject to a mutually acceptable compensation package. After further discussion the motion passed.
The Senior Warden will contact the Diocese.
